Fishermans Bend to make Melbourne a top investment hotspot

The Fishermans Bend urban renewal project is helping to make Melbourne one of the top cities in the world to invest in, according to a new independent global report.

The 2017 edition of Knight Frank’s long-running Wealth Report names Fishermans Bend as a major project providing investment opportunities “of a scale and diversity to appeal to large investors, helping to maintain Melbourne’s position as a primary destination for global and domestic capital.”

According to the report, Fishermans Bend will be key in boosting Melbourne among the likes of Austin, New Mexico, Miami, Amsterdam, Berlin and Bengalaru on the list of cities identified as presenting “exciting opportunities for private property investors in 2017.”

While Melbourne’s steady population growth and reputation as the “world’s most liveable city” already make the city an attractive proposition for investors, the report singles out Fishermans Bend as a significant development, with new high and medium-density commercial and residential development set to bring up to 80,000 new residents and jobs into the area.
