We held a fun family day with children’s activities, music and food as part of the opening of Kirrip Park in Fishermans Bend.
Martin Foley, Member for Albert Park together with the Mayor and Councillors of the City of Port Phillip officially opened the park on Saturday 20 October 2018.
The name of Kirrip Park was chosen through an extensive community consultation process by City of Port Phillip. ‘Kirrip’ means friendship or mate in the Boon Wurrung language.
The park is a key part of the Ferrars Street Education and Community Precinct, a catalyst project for Fishermans Bend that provides more public space, community services and facilities for the growing community.
The precinct features Victoria’s first vertical primary school which is finishing its first year of operation, tram stop and street upgrades as well as streetscaping to improve safety, accessibility and connections to the surrounding area.
Kirrip Park is a joint project between the Victorian Government and the City of Port Phillip.
