Westgate Park in inner Melbourne is growing with the Victorian Government adding three new parcels of land to expand the inner-city oasis by around 4 hectares.

New land additions will improve the world famous ‘pink-lake-park’ by boosting visitor access to the Yarra River and providing new green open space for the Fishermans Bend community and the region.

As part of the transformation of Fishermans Bend, the park brings much needed recreation opportunities for this expanding community which is expected to be home to around 80,000 residents and 60,000 workers by 2050.

The land additions follow a commitment made by the Victorian Government in December 2015, when it announced plans to expand Westgate Park and contribute $2.5 million to improve the park’s facilities.

The Westgate Park Master Plan is being prepared by Parks Victoria, in consultation with the Friends of Westgate Park and will be made available for consultation in coming months. The Master Plan is aligned with the work of the Fishermans Bend Taskforce in developing the planning framework for the area.
